"Earth" Design Development

Hello all..

Just recently moved into a new home and now have my studio back. This weekend was the 1st time back sense I completed the Phoenix many months back.*
This is the beginning of a sculpture titled "Earth". I have had the conceptual sketch for some time and this weekend was the 1st phase of development. The earth will be made of cement and the support of wood.*
I worked today on the support piece in a small scale. About 1/4 the scale. You can begin to see the skeleton of what the support may look like.

More soon... Yielding

Hi Yeilding

It's going to be fun watching you progress through a new piece! I'll be waiting to see the updates. Nice design on this one.

Phase 2

Helllo...thanks for the looks and comments, feels good to be in the studio again

This weekend was spent making and wood armature for a full scale clay study model that I will use to design the lower half. When Im finished designing the lower half I will use the clay study as a guide as I begin carving it out of wood. Here are a few pics of this weekends progress

Thanks for your comments Lampburke.

Worked on the design on the sides last night, here is a pic where I left it for now. Plan is to create four different designs and then pick one for the final.
