It has taken me awhile to get to the class pictures, but my notes on all your golden nuggets have helped! Any suggestions are welcomed.

Re: Johannes - Student Critique Posts Only

Here is my first post for critique. I painted this landscape from a photo I took in 2011 when I visited my son who was living in Banff. I have posted the original photo, the cropped photo, and my final painting as well as close ups. Your course ''Painting stunning landscapes from photos'' is my go to all the time. Critique and advise will be more than appreciated.[IMG] I did this mostly with a palette knife. The only part I did with a brush is the water and sky.

I would prefer the second painting. When I do mountains I prefer to create abstract designs with snow patches rather than using the palette knife. In my book the more the paintings looks designed the better the reviews. The linear movement of the evergreens on the right can be slowed down with speed bumps which can be achieved by changing that line. This being said I do feel the majestic mountains and in a painting what a viewer feels overweighs many off the technical issues.

Arbre Solitaire - Oil on Canvas 18'' X 18''

Here is another painting I did with a palette knife. This was my first with the knife and I just love the texture that you get with this tool.
This photo was taken by my niece in the Himalayas.

Final Painting: Arbre Solitaire - oil on canvasss 18'' X 18''

Re: Johannes - Student Critique Posts Only

Dear Johannes,
I need some advice on this painting. It should depict autumn in the mountains.
Thanks for your help!
