Fruits

When I try out new techniques, I first make small paintings with simple things, such as fruits.
These are 2 of those small paintings.

Excellent. Fantastic control of color and light.

Re: Fruits

unbelievable. the quality of light is mesmerizing, it's like a portrait of light not fruit.
bring a soft warm grey to the tablecloth under the pear and these'll sell before weekend.

Re: Fruits

Gorgeous! The detail, colors, lighting, everything is incredibly well done. I'm curious what the technique was you were trying out?

Re: Fruits

Just gorgeous Mark! One day, hope to be able to achieve that high degree of realism with my own attempts - and even go one step further with additional superfine detailing, e.g clearly painting those intricate patterns of veins found in leaves.
Impressive and inspiring.

Re: Fruits

this is just me, but simple things are the best things too,
some paintings get too busy with stuff, like clutter.
very well painted.

Re: Fruits

Wonderful work Mark, everything I strive for you accomplish. Just fantastic.

(Currently have a painting with fruit in it myself, they're stuck on about 85% finished while I work elsewhere, and this makes me want to get back to them immediately! )

Re: Fruits

Love how the background and tablecloth are similar in hue but very distinctly painted on the pear painting. Lovely, both of them.
