A recent commission: The Home Place

I finished this little 11x14 oil on panel back in September for a client as a gift for her husband. His father built the barn when he was a child.

My client let me know that her husband loved it and was quite moved upon receiving it.

That's the best result an artist can hope to achieve. 🙂

Excellent, with a very nice balance of values and colours.
Another prove that a painting doesn't need to be complicated to make it really good.

Thank you, so much! I agree, some of the best paintings are simple, yet poignant subjects. Vermeer's "The Girl with a Pearl Earring" comes to mind. Just a simple portrait without even a background and it is extremely beautiful.

Not that I'm anywhere close to the genius Vermeer! 😃
