Nice work everyone! You all are so talented! And Virginia I LOVE your walking zombie. So funny. I make art dolls too.

I worked on a mermaid zombie. I am not good at these things, as I purposely avoid gore and such. So is cute. Inspired by some game I saw online. and Tim Burton - ish.

Copics, eye shadows, pitt pens, and frost spray.

Re: October Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat!

Zombie make-up test for RAMBLIN' ROSE. (Model: Miranda) I made a life mask of the model ( only the front of the head...the face...was needed). I used a dental alginate to get all of the details in the model's face, then covered the alginate in wet, plaster bandages, leaving her nostrils free for breathing. Once everything set up I pulled the plaster and alginate off and quickly filled the negative mold with fresh plaster.

This created a "positive" of the model's face so that I could attach it to a work board and sculpt the zombie features in soft clay over the plaster positive. Another plaster mold was made of the clay zombie sculpt. Foam latex was used as the matrix between the outer and inner molds so that when the foam latex "set up" the outer surface would retain the zombie make up and the inner surface would fit her face like a glove. The mask is held tightly onto the facial skin by surgical adhesive and that stuff stays on for hours and hours.

The model didn't want to wear a wig so she simply dyed her hair the darkest shade of brown she could find. Her normal auburn hair was too "lively" and I thought that a dark color would help. She's going to rag up some old dress and on the day of the party I will spend the better part of the afternoon working on her. (People will start to arrive at the venue at 7:00pm in the evening) I will do a complete body make up on her, which will be done with basic make up products....maybe a few extra abrasions here and there. Miranda's boyfriend is going to the event as a surgeon in bloody scrubs....no make up on him other than I will dump a great deal of stage blood on the front of the scrubs.

I love Halloween

Dianna, good work on the mermaid, quite evil looking.

Woody, very good painting, the blood drips are a nice touch. Your zombie friend is extremely gruesome.

Virginia, good painting. And your little zombie is cute. He looks excited because he thinks he found a lot of brains lol.

SunFace, nicely done. Cute and creepy!

I did make polymer zombies once. I'll have to dig them up later this week and get a picture.

Woody your Transylvanian Gothic is great, love the house, the girl and Dracula, the blood drips on him are the best!
Your friend will be the Belle of the Ball in that makeup! Her Hubby sounds fun too, I hope they both have a blast

Virginia I love your Pop-Art colored zombie so vibrant for the undead!
He is both handsome and creepy. Your yarn zombies are so cute, love the garden photos, the apples are fantastic, I like the brain look.

SunFace cute little zombie Mermaid, I like her pointed teeth, I'm glad you joined in this month. Looks like we both liked the idea of a Mermaid Zombie.

Sunface, that's so cute!!

Woody, that's impressive. Great photos of the work in progress too. I'm so claustrophobic, the blue mask freaks me out just as much as the zombie! I love everything about that, from her hair to the earrings, the details are amazing! Bravo.

I was thinking that too Virginia, I don't think I could have all that stuff all over my face.

Just for fun, this was a 1/4 scale sculpt I did as a restoration of the special make up on Peter Cushing that turned him into the avenging zombie, Grimsdyke in Tales From The Crypt feature film from 1972. I did this three or four years ago for my own amusement.
