Pears and cup

Here is my latest still life. It’s 10x8 inches. For the surface I used matboard that I coated with Golden fine pumice gel. I painted the gel on with a brush and it went on pretty unevenly. But I ended up liking the brushstroke texture, although there were some clumpy spots. And it made a pretty good toothy surface. Then I did an under painting in contrasting colors with mungyos which I blended with Liquin. Then I did the final layer with neopastels.

(This photo makes the background color look kind of dirty. It looks better IRL)

Re: Pears and cup

This is lovely, Maria. The teacup looks so delicate - your detail is amazing here! Even the lighter color of the gold trim is handled perfectly. So impressive!

I like the background, and all that texture against your soft pears and delicate teacup. It works nicely.

No worries about the photo of your work not portraying the color right - I'm the first to complain my photos of my stuff are never good!

Re: Pears and cup

Thanks for your comments! I think this was my third attempt to draw this teacup and the first time I got the shape right.
