Re: Landscapes

Lovely! I'm enjoying the details, especially in the wooden church painting with the rock wall and the boards. Well done!

Re: Landscapes

Christel, great landscapes! Wonderful and realistic foliage in the painting with the church! What is the dark line in the sky? Maybe it's the mountain top with the rest of the mountain covered with mist?

Really really like the waterfall! Lovely colors of the landscape...
How did you make the white of the waterfall pop so much? Must be white oils? Looks like Sennelier white to me!

Re: Landscapes

Thanks Mira! Yes, it's supposed to be the mountain and mist. And yes it's white oils. At least they make a marked difference with op's.

Re: Landscapes

I love the wildness of the white-water waterfall, with it's sheeting transparency through to the rock wall, and it's roiling edges. The mists of the second one charmed me. Nice pair of images to enjoy together 😄

Re: Landscapes

I, too, like both. The waterfall with the dark rocks beneath the water. Do you mean to say the white is tube oil paint? Interesting! But if the OPs under it don't dry, and the paint does, is that not a problem? Or is there so little paint it's not a problem?
I do like the positioning of the figure on the rough uneven ground. One leg slightly higher, foot on upward angle, upper body leaning into to maintain balance. Good work!

Also the mid ground disappearing under the fog, hill top peeking through. The near fog shows your dexterity with the ops. How do you manage that transparency with the op's? Another well done piece.

Re: Landscapes

Thanks Ntl! The oil paint is applied over very thin layer of the cheaper harder op's and where possible, I even blend in the paint for those lighter shades. So far I've had no problems using paint.
For the misty effect, I first lay down a very thin layer of white op and add colors in little bits at a time. It can also be done the other way but you might get streaky colors from the first layer which could show through.

Beautiful. I love all the little intricate details in the old church building. Very nice!
