Then and Now...

2014 vs 2019:

I'm shocked. I never look backward, only ever forward, but seeing the difference in the quality of my work in the space of five years is just amazing. I had no idea. I'm really looking forward to seeing what I'll produce in 2024!

I would LOVE to see what improvements other people have made over the years, I hope you'll post some "Then and Now" works too!

I remember that 1st portrait! Love the little sparrow.
Your work has improved dramatically, especially in the last year.

Amazing Sarah. I remember that one in 2014. Your new work has so much more depth and feeling!

Re: Then and Now...

A real difference, indeed - wow! It's true that your work has progressed in added depth, and your recent experiments with collage and the Neocolor II have been beautiful successes. You may not have had such outcomes 5 years ago.

I'd be thrilled if I produced something as cohesive as your older painting - the bird is beautiful and the pose is believable. The hints of your current mastery with details in the human form are there, just subtle.

Very cool for you to post this!

Re: Then and Now...

A whole lot more depth and detail on the 2nd. But, the first is way better than I could do! The sparrow is just a great little detail!

Re: Then and Now...

Sarah, your first OP paintings were already beautifully done I've looked through some old threads with your works, lots of cool ones. But now they are more in-depth, 3-D and the details are more serious sometimes it's cool to look back and compare

I cannot really compare myself yet because I've only been using OPs for less than 5 months

Christel - a real level-up! the first one is nicely done drawing, with lots of things well-handled, but the 2nd one is more like a photo!

Re: Then and Now...

Thanks, Mira! That first one I had no idea about blending yet and the op's I used were very sticky/tacky.

Re: Then and Now...

Interesting Sarah. They are so different. 5 years ago, almost to the day, I was booking into a weekend acrylic painting workshop. I was hopeless, had only used watercolour previously. Think they're all under something else now. I'll see what I can find.

You 'now ' image really reaches out to the viewer. Thanks for sharing both.
