"Anticipation" - Lion cubs - WIP -

I have finally kissed my ocelots goodbye for the time being and can finally get back to my lions cubs that I started months and months ago. My biggest yet at 20 x 16.

The ref is from Masaiwarrior on Flickr who tells me that these lions were waiting intently in a pack waiting to be fed. It was taken at the Serengeti National Park. I just loved the way they had acres of land and were all sitting on top of each other. It intrigued me.

Anyways, I am about 3/4 the way through the first scratching. I have used a little diliuted ink on one of the lions faces so far but will need to ink more when I have finished to define the shadows more. So many greys in this. It will also have more grassy foreground when I am finished.

Lesley, This looks amazing! I can't wait to see the finished product. You're doing a wonderful job on their fur.

Thanks everyone, I will post another update soon. I seem to be getting slower and slower with my work these days. Must be the age catching up with me or "maybe I need a long breather"

Yes, Jenny. They do seem to take a lot longer but this one in particular as there are so many tiny tiny little hairs. Thanks for looking in

I think this is progressing wonderfully! I think a complex subject matter like this is bound to take more time than a single animal, as you really have to be paying attention to all the little details. I think it will be worth it in the end

MMMMMMMM I'm loving this Lesley! You have a great eye for interesting compositions and then the knowing as to how to pull it off to make great things happen in you work. I can't wait to see this when you finish!

It is magnificent so far Lesley. It really reminds me of a Carl Brenders type work which is pretty much as good as it gets!!

Re: "Anticipation" - Lion cubs - WIP -

Thank you Cathy, Allan, Pamela and Patrick. Ocelots are dead and buried for the mo Allan. I hope. But they might come back to haunt me. I am hoping this is the start of a lion project but also looking for more works with multiple animals in them. All your comments are so kind and much appreciated
