Re: Rainy's lunchtime sketches

Love the effect of the white on the brown paper! I have a couple of kraft sketchbooks sitting around with a few sketches in them. I'll have to dig one out again here one of these days.

Re: Rainy's lunchtime sketches

There is something very dignified about black and white on a mid-tone paper. These are great.

I love all your black and white sketches on Bogus paper - the cat and the chili are my favorites but they're all cool. That chili pepper has perfect balance and proportions, it's so elegant!

Re: Rainy's lunchtime sketches

Thanks everyone. . . John, I do think you will find the kraft paper fun for sketches. Amazing how just two colors can pop on the mid-tone.

Robert, thank you. Your work on the bogus paper is lovely and what inspired me to purchase and try it.

Today's sketch was in fabriano venienza (really small one) and is a scavenger hunt item, rolled paper (aka, toilet paper )

brush pen and gouache

Also, here are pictures of my homemade kraft paper (bogus) journal. the first image is the actual size of the book when I hold it on the screen (pardon the dog hair on the suede!) and the second one is not actual size.

Re: Rainy's lunchtime sketches

Thanks Debby. . . went outside to sit in the parking lot to eat lunch today so drew this car with new pentel brush pen. Not happy with it at all, proportions are wonky as I crunched it up to fit on page.

Re: Rainy's lunchtime sketches

Love the TP! Nice journals that you made. I love the car...it looks like one of the ones in Italy that are so tiny I can't imagine where you put the luggage.

Great pepper, TP and...the car! The car looks like one of the Smart cars that we see periodically out here.

Re: Rainy's lunchtime sketches

Nice sketches Rainy. Every time I try to just do black and white I end up adding more color. I just can't seem to wrap my brain around it.

Does the bogus paper come in large sheets or pads or what? Is it by chance acid free or any such quality?
The craft cardstock I got is acid and lignin free but kind of a funky texture.

Re: Rainy's lunchtime sketches

I have a 9 x 12 bogus pad, its by Bee. You can see here. Its not acid-free.

This was a page I messed up something on (you can see those lines under the tree branches if you look) and decided to attempt to cover with a gouache from imagination last night so the page wouldn't mess up the whole book too badly
