Re: Rob's October Sketchbook Challenge

I saw that cat in the WDE thread and new you'd go for it Cat's always find the most awkward positions comfortable. But that's what makes them so cute and adorable!

I love that cat pose...cats are just so funny, that's why I love them

and you did a wonderful job on the coloring/lighting on that kitty...I really need to try out some of those pencils!

Re: Rob's October Sketchbook Challenge

Thank you, Denyalle! Yeah, cats are strange that way. They bend in ways we don't, get comfortable in the oddest positions and are too cool. I had to do her. Lissa's one of a kind basking under her lamp.

Epoh, thanks! Try the Graphitints - they are one of my favorite sketching tools ever. I get such good results from them, they're soft and colorful. Comparable to 8B pencils going down dry and then the wash brightens them.

Crystal, thanks. LOL, the smell of baked parasaurolophus is probably better than turkey! They are related to birds after all.

Is that a plum in the last post? The colour is so rich and magnificent (and also one of my favourite colours, have a few soft furnishings in that colour in my lounge room!).

What can I say? These are all so awesome. However, my favorite has to be the dinosaur.

Re: Rob's October Sketchbook Challenge

Everything is super as always Rob! I sure can't get anything I remotely like to come out of the Graphitints, maybe I'm not laying down enough color or maybe it was the book I used. I did pick up the smaller size Pentallic at Hobby Lobby today. Decided it would be fun to try since you are enjoying yours so much.
Marbles...I hadn't thought of using them, I have a box of very old cateye marbles sitting in plain site right now. Off to draw.

Re: Rob's October Sketchbook Challenge

Wow Robert! Your sketches are great, I'm liking those Derwent Graphitints, how you do your washes... The toy dinosaur is an excellent ideal... I've done the same thing with those toy Marvel characters, spiderman etc.. great way to practice still life.

Re: Rob's October Sketchbook Challenge

Great pages Rob, the colours you use add so much life to your sketches, I hope I get my use of graphitints down half as good as you do by the end of the month.
