Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

Hi Donna, These are fun. Now I'll quit throwing my scraps out and put them to good use. Neat way to go green, fill a niche, and replenish a stick. Bravo!

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

Your minis are lovely. I don't think your price range is out of line and it makes original art affordable for more people. It also might be one of those things where a larger painting sale might come out of it in the future. Good luck with the sale. I'm just starting on doing some 5 x 7's and I am finding them incredibly small.
The poppies aren't cute, they are delightful. They just give me that warm fuzzy feeling that's required when the winter grey skies hit.

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

Norm, Thanks and yes, keep your scraps! I get immense pleasure from using even a tiny piece from an otherwise wasted piece of paper. Now if I could find some tiny frames to recycle!

Terri, Thanks so much and I appreciate your thoughts on pricing. Some of the pottery at this show will make my minis seem downright affordable. Good luck with your 5x7's - maybe someday you will downsize to this microscopic size.

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

These are great and what a great idea of how to recycle some of my paintings that did not work. Just a thought, why not mount the painting directly on the glass and do away with the spacers. I like to mount directly on the glass. I have mounted directly on the glass with no issues, and know much better artist then I that do the same, but if the client wants a Mat then I am happy to oblige them. Anyway, just a thought to keep cost down. james

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

Hi Donna,
I'll bet you'll sell them all! Love the first two ones. I amazes me that you can paint in this size!
The price seems reasonable. If you do very well then you'll know to raise the price next year. Good luck with the show. I have one this weekend and been working like crazy producing small (5x7) paintings. Let's cross our fingers!

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

These are all quite nice Donna. The pricing is not out of line at all. Consdering there will be a commision and the work you will have put into them, you arer not really making anything. As noted previously, they may lead to the sale of a larger painting. These make great gifts for someone to take to their office where they often don't have a lot of space. I have a small 3 x 5 by an artist I like here at my desk.

Donna, They are all such strong paintings... really envious! Good job and great idea about going small. I'll remember this for next year!! No doubt, they will all sell and at the right price.

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

I'd say the pricing is a bargain, but probably appropriate for the venue. I do hope these sell, cause I love giraults as well, also good sale at Jerry's Artorama on Sennelier ($1.99per open stock) and got email from Terry Ludwig today -- 20% all pastels! Dan

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

Donna,
They are all great but I like the poppies best! I am sure you will have success with selling them. I think your pricing is right. I am selling my framed minis for $25 at my open studio this weekend. Good luck with the sales....some new giraults sounds good!

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

Thanks to all of you for your comments, good ideas and thoughts about pricing! I do hope they might look like a good gift for that person on someone's list who is impossible to buy for. Since you all like the poppies so much I have started another one.

James (grandad), I have never framed a pastel with it directly touching the glass, at least not yet. It's so humid here in the summer and I wouldn't want the pastels to stick to the glass. Maybe it's not such an issue?

Karen, I hope your open studio sale is a huge success!

Barb, you make a good cheerleader!

Re: Minis for a Christmas Show

Donna,
I love your pastel minis. I think they are ALL beautiful...just depends on the person in terms of what they might prefer (as I know you are trying to sell them); but you did a great job on all of them!

Good luck at the show. You'll have to let us know how you did.

Ann
