Re: Me

Oh you ugly ugly man.... what were you thinking?

Just kidding - I figured if I said too many nice things your head would be too swollen....

FABULOUS WORK Derek. I'm a huge fan on this approach and yet I truly enjoyed Deborah's feedback too. So much to learn.

I'd be curious how long this took to paint if you don't mind. I see such a sense of ease and grace in this piece and long to be able to do that kind of approach.

Oh and LOVE YOUR CHAIR colors. They are really fun.

I think we need to order you some striped wild socks for your next piece!!!

Barb

Re: Me

hi Barb
It took me about 3 1/2 hours for this. I actually started with colored lines in pastel pencil filling and putting in values with panpastels then switching back to line. Soft pastel sticks at the end. getting a decent likeness and proportion in the pencil sketch was the toughest thing. Thanks for viewing and your comments. Bye, I am leaving for the sock store!

Ugly

But Derek, I never said... "ugly".... LOL

Keep up the great work and I appreciate the time you took on the drawing. It shows.

I wish I still had photoshop, I'd create a nice pair of striped socks for you immediately...

Re: Me

I find it quite refreshing to look at a portrait where someone looks happy and content. I think the style matches the mood of the picture perfectly, nice and loose, and comfortable. Nice job!
