Re: Scavenger Hunt #573, Jan 20 - Jan 29

Today I arrived at my Univ. a bit early due to less traffic jam. So I wandered into the Suanthon Park, a small park next to our Univ. and got a few items done there.

#2 Yellow with a challenge of primary
2a) yellow -- flowers at the park

2b) blue -- people doing aerobic dance at the park

2c) red -- a scooter at the University.

Thanks so much Jo and Joe!

Jo, it's okay not to sketch if you don't feel like it. Every day is new. I love your sketches though and look forward to seeing them again when you're ready!

Ai, amazing finds and lovely paintings. You work in an enchanting environment!

EP, I love the adorable bunny you made - comfy - as well as your wonderful painting! I can feel the spirit of the real in the painting.

Paul, I'm the same way with the maps. For me, it's very hard to translate what is above me to what is on a map. I can never get them correlated. I don't even know very many of the constellations yet. I'll check out the app you mentioned. I have one too, but it might be a little outdated, I'm not sure. It sure helps though. You're fortunate to be near observatories. What is it like to look through tech like that? It must be very cool!

Scatty, gorgeous colors, amazing detail. Makes me feel nostalgic. Do you paint with other people every week? That sounds very brave to me.

Scatty: Great shapes. Really like how you date and name items. You should see me reading your writing I end up standing and almost turning my head up side down to read, very cute

Ai: Great watercolor sketches really enjoy them all but I particularly like the yellow flowers

Pine Cone:
You might find an observatory in your area if you have any large Universities near you. I happen to have quite a few large Universities near me that offer free public lectures as well as viewing the night skies... they are quite nice. It is typically offered once a month and if you run into cloudy skies or bad weather it can be a long time in between access. I missed this whole past year either due to cloudy skies or other commitments

Paul, Great idea for triangle! Made me smile, and your sketch is excellent. What an amazing view you have!!!

I don't think we have any observatories nearby, but I could be wrong. I'll check into it further when it gets warmer.

I checked out that app and it is nice! When I tried to find out the price for upgrading though, it took me to an older version which was odd, so I didn't upgrade. I like how it shows a path though.

But I think for now, I'll probably stick to Sky Safari where I can see the whole sky, and zoom in and out, all while I'm sitting inside just wondering what the heavens are doing. It's been good to me, although it's an old version. They have a newer version though, for those who have need of it.

Happy sketching, and happy stargazing!

Since I haven't sketched I'd better get with the comments. Good job, all.

Ai, those seed pods are huge and very interesting. The yellow flowers are amazing and the scooter is red for me!

EP, awww, cute bunny. Love handmade!

Scatty, your boxes are wonderful. I also like your labels. Smiling.

Paul, excellent window and view. Clever triangles. I will check out the phone app, Skyview, you and Pine Cone are talking about.

Off again to ponder......

Hi all...and thanks for the kind comments...
Angela, nice group, love the colour way, well done...
Paul, neat towels and holder, is the theme sport? You have a nice view from your window...I have a strange mental picture of you doing somersaults to read my notes
PC, 30 seconds! wow, good one. Lovely misty moon, we had a blood moon the other night, very eerie. Our art club is only small, but very welcoming, I really enjoy it.. ..
Dave, well done on all these I say (as I sup a little Côte de Blaye from my own wine glass ) Cool bike, do all the little triangles between the wheel spokes count as well? Good job on the secateurs, great job on the faucet and water...
Ai, what a beautiful tree and seed pods, are they edible? The yellow flowers are gorgeous, what a super place to do exercises, love the red scooter...
EP, what a cute bunny, love home made toys, this ones a sweetie ...

I sketched in the big book a whole page with the Pilot Fountain Pen.
Number 1, round and Number 2 triangle - wheel on a walker
Number 3, view out a window
Number 4, water - the rain gauge on the post (burn pile of limbs behind it)

Scatty - Love the boxes. Beautifully done.

Ai - You live in a little piece of paradise and we get to share it through your paintings. Thank you.

Paul - Great take on triangle. Nice sketch.

Jo - Nice line work as always.

BDancer - Welcome. Your shadow interpretation cracked me up. That is an awfully neat under computer desk. Mine has several power strips and more wires than I can count. Give a Rowdy a pet for being such a good model.

1 something yellow and challenge. All 3 done in direct watercolor. Lead sharpener and two very small flower pots. Actually 3 separate paintings so not to scale relative to each other.

Keep sketching
Joe

Joe--Thanks. She's only a year old and is Very attached, hence the shadow reference. Actually all the wiring is going off the other side sooo…..no need to see that side
Paul--thanks too. I love your reflection sketch.
