Re: Joan's 2017 Sketches

Thanks Doug and Robert.

I was able to squeeze in one last sketch before 2017 ended. With our cold weather that has lasted so long I heard that the Great South Bay had frozen over, so I headed over to Bellport to check it out. When it is totally frozen people come with their ice boats and sail across the ice. It is a sight to see. But it wasn't totally frozen where I was so I had to settle for a sketch of the beach grasses, the snow and the ice.

Great winter landscape, a good finish to a very productive year. Vivid and accurate, this gives a real sense of place. Love the shadow of the fence wobbling up and down over lumpy snow, gives it lots of definition.
