Re: The Spotlight - March 2018 - Cast Shadows

You are welcome Esther. And just let me add that I think you did well in accomplishing your goal. Your bottles are letting the sun shine very nicely through them. 🙂

Re: The Spotlight - March 2018 - Cast Shadows

Here is my attempt at the bowl of cherries, it was a bit dark when I was painting it because we had a cyclone come throuh and we lost the power,
The colours are t quiet what I thought they were at the time, the colours in the shadow were interesting to paint

Ha! If this is what you can do in the dark, what can you do with light? Aside from the lovely volume in both the bowl and cherries, and aside from the cast shadow, I like that your background is not just black. You have infused that area with wonderfully dark color. Well done, all around.

Re: The Spotlight - March 2018 - Cast Shadows

Hi Don and everybody!

Don, thank you for this Spotlight. I know that thanks to WC I will never look at shadows the same way I used to. Your reference photo are great and the first paintings are beautiful.

I will try to at least sketch them. My life have been a bit like a rollercoaster since Christmas and drawing is the only thing I manage. And unfortunately, I bought a lot of Fisher sanded papers and I am very unhappy with them. They don't lay flat at all, so I need to pin them down in the middle with a pencil and then paint. Which is so annoying.

Anyway, thank you very much for the thread and the photos!
