Re: Open Studio
Jackie, I do apologise - must have been the wide angle lens - or perhaps the square painting; next time we'll use a rectangular one I think you look perfectly fine - but who am I to talk? I do prefer being behind the lens, not in front of it...
Life is unfair - so today there's sunshine at your place? You could have tried harder, Jackie , really!
No, seriously, you were a very good host - and while you were otherwise occupied I could drool in private over those gorgeous paintings in your living-room...

Re: Open Studio
Jackie, unfortunately it is mostly the photographer -- not the camera. One pro photographer proved it by taking pix with a lousy phone camera (before smartphones, before... it was some time ago), and of course they were gorgeous, if not as sharp because of the quality of the cam.
You look great, Jackie!
Oh, dear, this is a pet peeve of mine. Women are made to be beautifully curvy, so why would the fashion industry want us to look like adolescent boys, or twigs? And Twiggy looked horrible, back in the... OMG it was the 60s, wasn't it?

Re: Open Studio
Thanks for sharing your Open Studio with us, Jackie, and thanks to Dorothea for more great photos - including one with the artist herself (you do look perfectly fine, Jackie!) It's so good to hear about all the sales! Jackie, did you make, buy or rent those screens you use to display your larger paintings? They sure worked out perfectly for you - and no nail holes to fill!

Re: Open Studio
Dorothea, of course, you must have used a wide-angle lens, that is why I look so broad. And I have discovered recently that my wardrobes are the kind that make your clothes shrink over time. I must get new wardrobes.
And yes, I am sorry, it was very sunny all day today...they say the sun shines on the righteous, so perhaps you are less righteous than you ought to be......I did notice a little bit of a wicked twinkle in those eyes...
Donna, those big sturdy screen in the centre of the room are just marvellous, aren't they, they are strong enough to hang really big paintings from them. I have had them for some time........an Ebay purchase, I bought them second-hand.
I am sure one can still buy similar screens new, they are probably expensive; the flimsy ones I used for the small pictures actually aren't marvellous, they are OK for very lightweight things, but even my usual velcro would not hold those pics in place, I had to hang them in the end.
If you ever go looking for something like the big one, if you look closely yuo will see that they come in two sections with sliding connectors either side. One huge panel would weigh too much to carry around, as it is the half sections are pretty solid and heavy.
Aren't I lucky to have them! ok to use at home, but too heavy to use for exhibitions, perhaps that is why the seller got rid of them.

Re: Open Studio
Jackie, maybe you should paint bigger so you have something to completely cover you up next time! Only joking, you look fine to me, especially bearing in mind the wide angle.....
Charlie, hmm, Twiggy, the 60s? Rather before my time although I do remember my older sister talking about some such...lol!

Re: Open Studio
Great idea Ruthie.........a 6' picture would do the trick! In fact, I could paint myself, life-size, and very slim.......!

Re: Open Studio
I'm arriving very late to the posting but I have to say I read every word and drooled over the paintings, the bowls, the set up the artist and loved hearing about the photographer.
400 is quite the turnout. I seem to think you need to do this more often.
Congratulations Jackie on the sales and the investment of time and love and $ into this event. It looks like it was a huge success.
You are most inspiring to us all. Barb

Re: Open Studio
Jackie, the Open Studio looks great. I've been following along but I've been so
busy lately and don't like to post except on my computer.
Dorothea, thanks for the pictures.
Following in New Mexico - just got back from a retreat in southern Colorado. Gorgeous color there and beginning to be gorgeous here.
