Hello to all! This is the first self portrait I’ve attempted. It was done on 11×14 Pastelboard using bad SoHo, Luminance, Pablo, and Polychromos colored pencils. As usual, all comments and constructive criticism is welcome.
Thanks! 😊February 5, 2018 at 12:22 am #559856This looks great!

Welcome to the wonderful, confronting (or is that just me?) world of self-portraits!Thank you! And, YES, it is quite a confrontation! I just turned 60 in December. I had no idea how much I’d changed, but I think it was a very cathartic experience. I realize I’m aging… turkey neck and falling jowls aside, I’m accepting… kicking and screaming all the way… that it’s time for the person behind my outer appearance to emerg. Although this will sound corny, I’m more comfortable in my skin, more complimentary of others, and more forgiving than I was in my younger days. Getting older is a privilege many of my friends didn’t live long enough to have. I’m working on embracing my older self and building a legacy I can be proud to leave my future family members. Life is good! 🌞

We would love to see more portraits from you!bethany
