Mangle conversion

Well it took forever but i finally got my mangle converted. I'm really happy with the result even though i haven't tried it out yet. The engineer is ordering a 3mm thick nylon bed which he thinks can handle the edges of zinc plates etc. At present i have one piece of thin felt but i can easily get more. Will post another pic when i get the bed and know the final pricing. Cheers all, Isaac.

Re: Mangle conversion

First thanks for all the compliments, well here are 3 pics done on it,
1st is water based ink printed on dry paper
2nd is an oil layer printed over the water based layers on dry paper
3rd is water and oil based ink printed on paper soaked in water for about 5 mins.
My conclusion is i would need to use dampened paper to print successfully, probably with a fair bit of ink. The mylar and felt roll through the press well, so a couple more layers of felt placed incrementally may up the pressure as well.
If i wanted to get the press to a professional level the upper roller would need a proper pressure system, not the spring system currently used.
Anyway have a good one, Isaac.
