Re: By Dawns Early Light

Really captures the drama of the situation, a lone crew trying desperately to get home. Great stuff.

Visiting my parents in Florida now, they're living near my birthplace (Eglin AFB). We visited the USAF Armaments Museum yesterday...there were many aviation paintings, none were quite as good at capturing the story of the moment as yours, and I don't say that just to be nice.

Jim....another fabulous piece. Great movement depicted here and as Ken says the atmosphere really matches the scene....a pleasure to view.

Something wonderful about that violet skyline, my fwend, it's magical. And provides one little detail.

Thank you all for commenting. I think for beauty, the Mossie is the twin engine equivalent of the Spitfire

You captured the movement in the working prop so well in contrast to the still one. Another super painting. Do you ever sleep?

This is from my archive, and was painted several years ago. I probably average about Three paintings a week. My usual painting, like this one, takes about 3 hours. I mostly know my subject, or do a bit of research then paint it. No faffing about with studies, tonal sketches, and other 'proper' things. I draw it then 'colour it in'. It works for me, and unless itís a commission, that is who the painting is for.
Basically I love ships and the sea so thatís what I paint. Iím not an artist Iím a painter. Iím not interested in painting abstracts, or tins of soup, but if I can draw it , I can paint it.
