Weekly Inspirational Pictures for Dec 30 -- Jan 5

Here, we go, I've uploaded the first five (of seven) images as attachments, I'll put the rest in a reply post. These photos were all taken by either my husband or myself, I'm not sure with some of them which of us took them. The bird feeder belongs to my husband's parents, who we were staying with last week. The other photos are from a couple of towns with medieval roots that are not so far (15 and 30 minutes drive) from the village where they live.

The tumbledown skeleton of a shed in the one photo was next to what I think is a very sad sight --a narrow valley that is a still-productive apple orchard that has been totally abandoned as an orchard --I think it's been turned into a public park, there's a couple of benches there, but the apples lay in drifts under the trees, it didn't look like anybody had picked them at all this year, and maybe not for years. Most of the trees were on terraces on the sides of the valley, there's hardly any valley floor. (I have a photo of that, too, but it's not so drawing-friendly.)

Re: Weekly Inspirational Pictures for Dec 30 -- Jan 5

Here are the last two photos. The shed skeleton photo in the previous post was taken from the same path as in the path photo here, but much farther around the city. The path skirts one of the medieval walls of the city, mostly along the bottom of one and the top of the next, but for some parts (like when it's along the orchard) there's no 'next' because the 'next' is mountain. The other photo is the trunk of a vine of some kind that went on to grow up and over the railing and down the wall it was on top of.

Re: Weekly Inspirational Pictures for Dec 30 -- Jan 5

Happy New Year all.
Well done on the bird, Jacqui.
Thanks for the pictures, Mercy. My goal for the year is to start a sketchbook journal of the places I go and things I see, so this is excellent practice for me.

This was my last sketch of 2012. Hoping to do lots more this year.
9 by 12 inches - pencil

Re: Weekly Inspirational Pictures for Dec 30 -- Jan 5

Thanks, Debby.
I hope some more people are going to have a go at these pictures. Old buildings always have character. Even falling apart they have a charm of their own. It seems to me that there must be a mystery behind that door that's probably best left untouched.

Jacqui, cute little bird there.

Phlip, good door and tree.

Thank you Mercy for the photos. They are not that easy in pencil.

Great landscape and door Philip.
Very creative sketches Sandra, I love how you always give them your own touch.
