Looking really good. Like the addition of the koi.

Final blue:

Initial treatment of kio:

I'll let this sit a couple of days and then do final color adjustment & highlights, burnish lily pad greens and figure out what to do with koi.

Re: Lilly Pads - WIP

Some minor changes were made to the koi, an overlooked area of water was corrected and some additional highlighting added. As the saying goes; "You can stick a fork in this one - it's done."

One item overlooked in the initial description of the support was the overall size: it's 6-1/4" x 9" (~ 16 x 23 cm) which would make the image 5-3/4" x 8-1/2" or ~ 15 x 22 cm).

Thanks to all who commented on this thread. Now it's off to the moderator to get the "WIP" removed (and maybe correct the misspelling of Lily in the thread title)...

Re: Lilly Pads - WIP

I notice you leave the lines outlining your lily pads which I usually I don't see in coloured pencil. This is quite pretty.

Re: Lilly Pads - WIP

Christina - Thank you. It can go either way, depending (in part) on the degree of color (hue) separation between adjoining elements (see first example below). When working in watercolor (see second example below) it has the added advantage of allowing quicker work without bleeding and without having to wait for adjacent areas to dry.

First example: "Ivy" graphite, ink and colored pencil on vellum (5-1/4" x 8-1/2"; ~13 x 22 cm):

Second example: "Three Pears" ink and water color on Strathmore 140 lb (300 gsm) cold press (6: x 9"; ~15 x 23 cm):
