Re: Sycamore Gap and a Riverbank in Norway

Interesting. Above, my color critique was based on color that was shown on an office desktop flat screen (not my own). But now I am viewing it on a handheld device (my own), and the original color looks good, but my suggested revision looks too gray.

Moral: It is hard to critique color, due to rendition differences.

Two very engaging paintings - exquisite work indeed. Well handled and a joy
to view.

Re: Sycamore Gap and a Riverbank in Norway

Arnie thank you so much for your kind comment. Yes I got a size 7 flat brush - odd that things like that delight me now!

Donna, that you too very much for your lovely comment. I did, indeed, have a lovely day.

Pinguinio: thank you for taking the time to offer your critique. Trying to accurately depict paintings on WetCanvas is a source of continuous frustration for me, and I am sure, many others. There are three computers in this household and many hand-held devices and the colours on the WetCanvas images look different on each one and yet, bizzarely, not the same as the original. Different colours seem to have different problems: I find blues and purples are particularly difficult, with greens not far behind! Thank you again!

Re: Sycamore Gap and a Riverbank in Norway

Caroline, thank you so much! So nice to think you enjoy looking at my work! I had a lovely day. ( I don't know if you remember me mentioning the Sky Landscape Artist of the Year programme: apparently they are filming two heats at Gateshead in early July: so they will probably be painting the millenium bridge etc. I am so excited as it is possible to go and see them filming it. I have painted those scenes many times!)

Richard I am pleased you like the sky - I kinda made it up: I was trying to get a sense of an oncoming storm with sunlight shining across the grass and on to the trees. Thank you also re 2.

John, a lovely comment, for which I thank you. Much appreciated.
