Abstract

This is from a few days ago. It's about 42" x 42".

Ahhh, to have inspired another to create!

That looks great DessertRat! It reminds me of my last dog who would insist on carrying a toy with him on our walks.

I really like the washed appearance of the background colors! did you use an acrylic pen to get the good black lines? I'm working on my lines with lner brushes. It's taken a while but it's moving along!

I like this, especially the composition and colors and contrasting textures.

Hi,
I did use an Industrial Sharpie to draw the lines over the b/g, then I painted over them with a round brush.

I didn't see the "rabbit" until near the end of the painting. It wasn't intentional.

I was really just trying to get some idea how paint would flow. This is the picture that caused me to ask, "Why is this paint not more opaque."
Although it started as just an exercise in using the paint, I rather liked the outcome and since the canvas came with a nice frame from the local thrift store, I hung it in our mid-century modern dining room.

There's a lot wrong with it, but I strongly resisted the urge to go back and fix the errors.

Thanks for all the encouraging comments! Yes, I suppose it does belong in a different forum?

Re: Abstract

This is a style I love. I used to make such A4-size sketches, trying to obtain nice color contrasts, mostly with markers or color pencils. 42" x 42" is big!

By the way, did you know Jean Dubuffet and his paintings?

Re: Abstract

Good work - really nice, unique overall design. Like the play of solid opaque object elements vs. soft, ethereal background.

Re: Abstract

That looks cool, a better picture would be best to catch the details and textures
