Reflecting on Spring

This painting was an interesting challenge since there's technically no sky in it. Instead, we see a grassy riverbank with some trees next to the water, with the sky reflected above. Pink flowers are mirrored in the water, with petals floating by on the slow current as spring passes.

Acrylic painting: 14" x 17"

Still much to paint and much to learn!

This is such a lovely painting. I love your description of the slow moving water - the colors are beautiful and sing in this painting

Re: Reflecting on Spring

This is a charmingly beautiful painting Matthew. The blue water, set against the greenery, is gorgeous and, as ever, your accompanying description only enhances the work. I love the petals.

Re: Reflecting on Spring

A great look at a passing season. Spring blossoms always seem so short lived to me. Great job of capturing the time. Gary

Re: Reflecting on Spring

The touch of pink is a nice inclusion & I love that 1/3 , 2/3 relationship between the water & riverbank.
Not always easy painting a subject without a sky IMO. Although you have managed to reproduce the blue & light values of a sky, reflected in the water below. Therefore it all comes together nicely - Great Result !
