Old Mill

This is the first of a number of small paintings/sketches I intend to do this Spring and Summer - I will be using them to compose larger paintings this coming Fall and Winter -

This scene was taken from an old photograph I have -

Painting: Oil on canvas glued to hardboard, 8 x 10; Palette: Yellow Ochre, Indian Red, Burnt Sienna, Raw Umber, Italian Green Umber, Ultramarine Blue and Cremnitz

Comments and suggestions always welcome -

Thank you for viewing - Hud

Re: Old Mill

Very nice work, great color & textures. There was an old Grist Mill in Kenneybunkpot Maine converted into a restaurant - great atmosphere and great food!

Mmmm, warm and welcoming. I like the trees and the log across the water.

Richard: Thank you ... appreciate your viewing -

I have a fondness for old mills, barns, etc., and I am glad that people are re-purposing these wonderful old structures ... sort of keeping them alive you might say -

Jo: Thank you very much -

Pleased you like my trees - I love trees, but have a difficult time getting them right ... but am working hard on that problem - Maybe, someday they will come second nature - I like logs too -

HUD,
I like your colors. I too like the light across the stream. Great textures.

Re: Old Mill

Beautiful painting, Hud! I, too, love the life in your trees. They have character, which I think is so great. Beautiful colors in this painting too. Excellent!
