Hails from United States
Oregon Coast

Hello Marine Art Forum,
This may be my first seascape and certainly my first post in this forum. I did this 11x14 as a commission for some longtime friends that wanted to give their son and new daughter-in-law a gift to remind them of their wedding on the Oregon coast. No seals attended, but I took some artistic license. =o)
Critiques are warmly welcomed, especially if you see room for improvement.
Mike

Re: Oregon Coast

Great painting. Personally I’d try to ge a bit more flying spray. I usually drag a dry brush down wind a bit. Probably fine as is. Are you sure they are seals, not Sea Lions?

It looks good to me - I'd be hard pressed to do as well.

Re: Oregon Coast

Nice work,
Maybe the green in the wave is not showing correct on my monitor..looks a bit too yellow green instead of green /blue/olive that I am used to seeing at the coast here in Oregon....

Re: Oregon Coast

Thanks for the comments. Yep probably sea lions. Good point on the green of the water, but I think the actual painting is much closer to reality. Let me try again with some photoshopping.

Re: Oregon Coast

I wouldn’t change the sea colour. The sea doesn’t have 'A' colour. It depends on so much. Location, atmosphere, weather geology, to name a few. Fifty yards along the beach it could be different, fifty yards further out it certainly will.
As always it is your painting.
