Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

dorrart thank you! I am so pleased you like it, as I do admire your loose style. It was an effort for me to put that brush down!

Your painting is a very beautiful, poignant one and I hope you feel able to hang it on your wall: I must admit it made me a bit teary. I am sorry for your loss and I hope you continue to find solace in your paintings.

Dorrat: A beautiful painting - your sister in the painting is hauntingly beautiful crossing that bridge.

I'm very sorry for your loss

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

dewarp, thanks for your kind words. The original plan was to use a warmer underpainting for the bridge and go a bit more grey, but as often happens, I liked the warmer better, as it was a nice contrast to the trees, water and sky, so I went that direction. Thanks again.

Bizzibee, fun painting freely, isn't it. I'm not certain about hanging it yet, but I was definitely sure I needed to paint it. Thanks for your kind sentiments.

CaliAnn, the thing that keeps coming to my mind when I look at it is the loneliness of the walk, but I added some light to the other side. Thank you for your kind words.

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Well I finally got around to doing one of the challenge pics this month. All done digitally in Photoshop and DAP, and I utilised one of my own photographs to add the guy on the dock.

I think this looks too close to the original, i.e. an enhanced photo rather than a painting. (Which it is of course.) I tried to add various "paint" strokes but found that I did not like any of the results when compared to this version. The alternatives are put this up, or put nothing up. So for better or worse, here it is.

C&C Welcome

regards - Peter

Peter: This is lovely, but I agree with you, it is missing that magical Peter touch. But I get you're busy, I'm not even sure I'll get one done this month

I like the hyper-definintion (is that a phrase?: if not, it should be) of it. That water is like a blue lagoon. If only the world looked like this!

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

Thank you for your comments, Carl, Peter, Bizzibee, dorrart.

Peter, the ray looks move emphasized in the photo than in the original. Maybe an effect of the downsizing.

Your bridge looks nice and I also prefer the browner tone of the bricks.
Sorry to hear about your sister and it is a nice idea to insert her into your painting.
I only have the feeling that the figure is a bit too big in comparison to the bridge.

Peter, I like your boat image. You punched the colors in a nice way and the gay is a good adding too.

Esther

Peter, nice colorful rendition of the red boat. I like the high contrast color scheme.

Re: May 2019 Landscape Challenge

I had a quick go at the bridge this morning. All done as digital manipulation in Photoshop and DAP. I moved the guy from the dockside to the bridge too!.

C&C welcome.
