Re: MAY 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

Less military equipment, more sheep. Hay bales, wisps of smoke from the wee houses.

This a redo of an old painting of the same scene. 16x20" stretched canvas.

Maureen, that's wonderful. Quite a peaceful setting for a walk.

Especially without any tanks.

I prefer this one, more interesting, but you need to sort out your shadows. It looks like there’s shadows on each side of the road, and sheep look as if they are floating, one is the size of a hay roll.

Re: MAY 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

Thanks Jim. Maybe I should add in the post in water that I left out. Sometimes it's hard to know if something adds or detracts from a painting.

Maureen, that's very nice, glad you found some time to paint.

Colin, nice peaceful scene with sheep instead of a tank. lol

Re: MAY 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

Hi All,

Imogene - very nicely done with the swans and setting the scene.
Michelle - Love the lake composition. Wish I was there on the bank fishing. Nice colors all over.
Merriweather - I am the one way, small spec, up river in the middle, fly fishing.
Maureen - A very cool scene. Another nice fishing spot. I am impressed with the sky, water, and colors!!
ColinS - I do miss the tank . The redo is as good and peaceful.

Cheers

Re: MAY 2019 Different Strokes Challenge

Christel - You're such a prolific painter! Three works! Wow! All so different too - I like the drama of the 3rd especially!

Sheila - this looks so cold and I think the magic seeped through!..... a palette and empty bottles fuelling the imagination perhaps?

SoCal - not easy painting a landscape on a tiny canvas - well done!

Jim - a place only a few miles from me - and one I've painted too! Lovely painting.

Magdalene - a nice interpretation of the challenge - beautiful colour and blending!

Merri - this reminded me of the Fauves! Bold and dramatic!

Colin - I remember this one - I like it a lot - only hope 'real' tanks never appear there!

Tina - nice one this - misty morning, atmospheric - just hope the horses are safe on that terrain!

Carl - very atmospheric - moody ..... good colour, great rocks. Perhaps add some distant land to stop the river flowing off the ends of the earth?

Jean - very delicate colouring - pretty.

Michelle - nice one - you show great patience with the grass and foliage textures!. They're good!

Thanks for the comments on mine - I'll try to be on time next month

Very nice, love the doggie having a drink with his owner looking on. I really like your quiet landscape, it would be unusual to see that landscape here. I guess that's why I was so excited when I travelled about in the UK. Devoid of gum trees, green landscapes and streams have water that moves, runs even. In more than a trickle. Beaut work Maureen
