That's a very accurate likeness of this old fella, Christel.

My take on the Sunset -

Oil on canvas glued to hardboard, 8 x 10; Palette: Yellow Ochre, Indian Red, Terre Verte, Ultramarine Blue and Cremnitz

I'm loving your broad expanse of sky and that low horizon, Hud.

Re: May Monthly SW/W Challenge

Kay: Thank you - It was something I have never done before ... a 30 minute painting ... so I would not consider it a polished painting ... more of a sketch - But, it was fun!!!

Christel, wow on your old man. You captured the feel and look so well. Applause.

Hud, excellent! You did a plein air/photo painting. That is sort of what I do with the monthly challenge. Beautiful.

Re: May Monthly SW/W Challenge

Thanks Jo!That pink shirt was a challenge! I used a Rowney block printing color which I got from somewhere. I use it as wc color and it has a great bright pink color.

Re: May Monthly SW/W Challenge

I was in my plein air practice mode with my pastels and did the still life. Ha. About an hour or so on a piece of reused Colourfix sanded paper. About the 6th sketch on that paper with the pastels. You can see the gray color at the bottom. It was fun. The "black" lines are actually green and aren't that pronounced in real life. 9 x 12 inches.

Excellent work, Christel! The skin tones are fantastic!

Hud, your sunset is wonderful! 30 minutes? Wow! Beautiful work in such a short amount of time.

Jo, this is lovely! You really got a nice sheen on those various vegetables. It's a wonderful painting!
