Right - That's it finished . Just going to leave the landscape as is . I feel I'd overwork it if I take it further . Thoroughly enjoyed doing this one .

Excellent painting Neil. Looks like you’d need a Heavy Goods Licence for this one!.

Thanks Jim and Trumper - Definitely HGV with the Hindenburgers Jim . Loved watching them steadily weave their way around corners with that weight on board - a real air of menace .

Re: Tornado GR4A WIP

After some expert advice this is the final , final version . faded the blue ridge behind the tail fin and tinkered with the go faster streaks a little . EndEX!

Yep the fin sticks out a lot better now. I would be definitely chuffed with that painting. What's the next project. Would love to see an F3.

Re: Tornado GR4A WIP

Thanks John - Yes I probably owe the F3 it's place on canvas . Caught a few of them on my low level photo outings and once had the pleasure of having an up and under bounce take place over my head and then out in front of me in a superb 1V 2 scrap from 250 ft up. They say that the F3 wasn't great in agility but it was a treat to see them hauling round like mad things . I've also witnessed an F3 v GR4 in a knife fight about a thousand feet up both dropping in and out of reheat as they struggled for the advantage .

Re: Tornado GR4A WIP

I worked on 5 sqn F3s Tornado for 6 years.
The aircraft was considered as a "Posers" aircraft by all because it looked so good especially when visiting other units. It was especially good at running away because of its amazing acceleration. On the same par as the F111..
It's had problems staying up at high levels and dog fighting was a no...no normally.
I had a back seat trip which was a bit of an anti climax because the ride was so smooth even when super sonic but it is still my favourite aircraft to work on.
I would love to see a nice painting. I have added one of mine from a few years ago in gouache.

That's a good painting John - you should do an F3 in flight yourself . I have a few ideas for my take . It was much underrated I think and was effective in it's bomber killer role . Certainly impressed me the times I saw it at airshows and out on low level hunts .
