PC - thank you. And thank you for sharing

Joe - thank you. To me you are the graphite master. Well done on your egg.

Jo - aha legs and purse are great. I wonder if that was tea or coffee in that mug ...

EP — I apologize. The sketch wasn't good enough to post, and the story was unnecessary. My bad.

Pine Cone - I found your sketch and story beautiful as they touched me very much. So there is no need to apologize. As to micron’s drying out, if you ever figure it out please share! The egg was on a plate that I did not include in the sketch,

Joe

Joe — Thanks so much 😊 🔆 Microns. They're fun pens but a source of frustration to me. Long ago, after one dried out shortly after I bought a bunch of them, I set them all on their sides in a big basket, sort of like they were in a pencil box. They still dry out. So ditto, if you find an answer! Awww poor Ralph 😃 Maybe his luck will change next time 🐾😍 😇

Thanks you guys. The pens, Prismacolor, Zig, and Micron are all very good. They last me for quite some time. I usually wear of the nibs before they dry up. I've had some for a long while, years??, and they work. Maybe they just like me!

Number 5, fern or other plant - some plants between some seats in a waiting room.

Jo - PC and I have very different luck with those pens. Have tried laying on side. Nib down. Nib up. Regardless. they dry out and as you know from my posts here, I do not use much ink. I like your plant sketch. The tall leaves remind me of a plant they use to call mother-in-law tongues. No idea what the actual name for it is.

Typed Mother in law tongue inn Bing and got picture and name. "Sansevieria trifasciata is commonly called mother-in-law's tongue or snake plant."

Joe, that looks like the plants for sure. They were about 16 inches tall so were a nice divider in the room.

Snake plant / mother in law tongue for sure. I had one once but I think the location it was in had too little light for it to thrive.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #585: Apr 26 - May 4

ink and dry inktense, 5x7" toned sketchbook paper

5. zipper
6. something silly - a dog toy - I think this is supposed to be a mountain goat but it has been torn apart so one horn is gone and one eye and side of the head is gone. I chose to draw from the better-condition side

Cheers,

EP — Awww, what have we here? A well-loved pet for your visiting dog perchance? 😄 And love the nuanced white of the zipper.

Jo: Awesome plants in seating area at the hospital. I wish for Gene speedy recovery.

EP: Well done. The zipper is great ... I agree with PineCone that the dog toy is super cute. Thanks for hosting this Hunt.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #585: Apr 26 - May 4

Ai — Thanks so much 😊

Jo — I wrote out a response to you earlier but I got sidetracked and just realized it didn't make it into my earlier post. I'm so sorry, because I was gobsmacked by your plant sketch, and wanted to say so. What struck me was how you portrayed a tremendous amount of detail without it ever getting messy. In fact it leaves me feeling peaceful. I want to ask how you do that, but it might not be the kind of thing that can be put into words. Anyway, it's a pleasure to look at and wonder about. And like all your work, very inspiring! ☀️

And EP — Looking again at your zipper, I realize that I was sidetracked by your visiting dog's pet goat ( 😊 ), but I missed realizing that the zipper you sketched, in addition to the lovely white I already mentioned, has a high degree of beautifully rendered complexity as well. Yet like Jo's plant sketch, your zipper sketch remains cohesive and peaceful. I've always wanted to sketch a pile of watch parts like you can buy at Hobby Lobby, but I've never dared because I don't think I could pull it off. You and Jo (and others here) could do it though.

PC and Ai - thank you. I feel I need more practice sketching zipper teeth. As with so many things in art, a person needs to s-l-o-w down and pay attention.
