Re: Scavenger Hunt #581 March – 25- April 2

EP - Thank you!

Ai - Thanks.

Jo - The robots don't look like what you think of when you hear robots. They look more like they came from an erector set like when we were kids. They have "arms" that have to be able to lift something from the ground to assorted heights to put the balls into the openings. They aren't scary robots so you wouldn't need your spray bottle. lol Nice sketch and shading.

Kat - Thanks. I love your arrangement of items. Great snail, pinecone and lichen!

Joe - This robotics competition includes high school teams from all over. The day I was there a teams from Istanbul and Switzerland were competing. The them this year was a moon mission which is the reason for the rockets, etc. Nice job on the chair and table. Mine always look wonky.

I sketched in my friend's garden today.
4 - flower - watercolors
5 - leaves
6 - tree - watercolors and ink
7- bush
8 - snack (I resisted) - watercolors and ink

Joan: Fantastic on all... Love the flowers of spring. I am laughing for your resistance to Donut treats.

Jo: Love your shading on the fruit ...May be I will try this style too

Scatty: Lovely set ...and yes, they all look nostalgic and warm feeling.

Joe: Wonderful furnitures in digi.

Thanks, all.

Joan, beautiful garden sketches. You know I love the flag. Your Dunkin Donuts reminds me of ours, somehow. Ha. Well done!!

Scatty, the little cup is precious. Clever in your hand with the sketchbook. Thanks for the addition to my virtual collection.

Cloudy out, but warm so may go for the flower, trees, etc.

Jo - I got kind of fascinated by the vertical hashing on pear yet still has round shape. My brain would have gone with curves. Garlic and yogurt are nice but keep looking a the pear

Joan - Spring flowers just pop off the page. Do you line out perspective on buildings or it is now just habit? Did you get any powdered sugar on keys typing 'resisted' or lick them clean first?

Scatty -Nice job on hand and cup. The line quality on hand is excellent.

Thanks to all for kind comments on chair and table effort.

Keep sketching
Joe

Re: Scavenger Hunt #581 March – 25- April 2

Everyone — I wish I had time to comment on all your amazing work, but for right now, I just want to say how cool Joan's sketch of the robotics competition was! It reminded me somewhat of a short YouTube I just saw that goes with a physical calendar I got at Barnes and Noble called "Atlas Obscura." You might enjoy this YouTube about a family's museum of "Retro-Future Artifacts"...

https://www.atlasobscura.com/videos/...ture-artifacts

FWIW, there's another short YouTube you might enjoy about some miniature art created to preserve the memory of things that have been, or might be, demolished. It shows some of the extraordinary work being done by this one individual, including painting, so I hope it's on topic. And she's preserving elements from life, so I hope it's okay to post...

Re: Scavenger Hunt #581 March – 25- April 2

Thanks for your comments everyone.
Much as I would have liked to sample the Dunkin Donuts, I did resist and there are no powdered sugar imprints of my fingers on my keyboard. lol

Kat, what a cute, tiny cup!

Pine Cone - Thanks for the link. This is the second year that I've gone to the robotics competition and am amazed at the talent and knowledge those kids have to build their robots and actually get them to move.

Yesterday I sketched at an exhibit of costumes that were used in Hollywood movies...like "Gone With the Wind." This is a copy of the dress that Scarlet made from the curtains at Tara.
9 - belt - watercolors and ink
10 - bottles of syrup - watercolors and ink
11 - jugs of syrup (subsitute for pot)

Lovely sketch Joan and Skatty.

I am joining National Poetry Writing Month or NaPoWriMo2019... for this April. So I sketched my kids from life and wrote this poem. Since both of them are my Iris and Lily. I will consider them a "Flower" sketch item.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #581 March – 25- April 2

Joan, The syrup market is wonderful, yummy. Nice job on the dress. One of our friends was getting her masters in textiles of some sort here at The University of Texas and they worked on the restoration of the original dress made from the drapes. I'm not sure where it is now. She and her class had a great time.

Scatty, oh, that pot is cute and well drawn. Love the sheep.

Ai, how lovely and a treat to see and read about your precious daughters.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #581 March – 25- April 2

Pine Cone - like the videos especially the one on miniatures. Thanks

Joan - You get out and about finding the neatest things to draw and paint. Maple syrup and Gone with the Wind in one set. 👍🏽👍🏽

Scatty - cute pot and well sketched!

Ai - Your girls are flowers and over the years we have gotten to see them blossom. Poem is a definite plus.

4 - belt - done with multiple grades of graphite in 2 mm clutch holders. Turned out harder than I thought as belt and buckle are close in value so tried to distinguish them by texture. Unfortunately cannot wipe it off and reuse the paper like someone we all know (jo).

Keep sketching
Joe

Re: Scavenger Hunt #581 March – 25- April 2

Joe that is a super drawing. Wow.

I went out and sketched the wisteria across the street. Came back in to add watercolor markers, new toys. Not easy. Watched on youtube my friend Rae Andrews using them. Looks sooooo easy. NOT!
In my watercolor sketchbook about 9 x 12 or so, trimmed.
#4 flower, #5 tree, #6 bush

Thanks jo. You are encouraging. The watercolor markers may not be easy but the results look good. You had Sharon ‘ouuing’. She loves wisteria. We had them along driveway in Rhodes Island.

Can you mix the watercolor markers with pastel?

Keep sketching
Joe
