F4 Phantom ASF Leuchars 1987.

Just started this today. Trying to recreate a scene from the 80s that I am familiar with. Hoping to add figures and equipment. Hopefully lights in ceiling will look bright. Any comments very welcome . Ta John

Ta Neil. To make the lamps look bright I will need to darken things down in the ceiling. I'm using acrylic gouache so any cockles can be easily rectified. Ta John

This has the makings of a really fine painting. Looking forward to seeing it progress.

Day 2. Getting the gray colour correct is a pain. Got to decide what ground equipment to add.
The hangar floor was usually strewn with all sorts of cables and stuff.
Any comments really welcome.

Day 3. Adding ground equipment and radar. Wheels for me are a nightmare....think it's my shaky hand.

Re: F4 Phantom ASF Leuchars 1987.

Ta....I need to start adding ground crew working now which makes me a bit anxious. I did think of having an attractive woman woman walking past with all the guys eyes locked onto to her. This often happened in real life. The sound of high heels on the hangar floor would bring work on the aircraft to a standstill.
But I suppose today that would be considered sexist. Ha ha.

Day 4....still adding stuff and messing around but enjoying myself. Using acrylic gouache which I find really useful for when you make mistakes as you can just paint straight over them. Need to start cockpits and canopies next.

Coming along well. I donít know if itís just me, but I end up holding my iPad at arms length to try to focus my eyes. I love to see clutter in a painting like this. Youíll have to organise a FOD PLOD when your done.

Re: F4 Phantom ASF Leuchars 1987.

Hello Jimmy and Neil.
FOD PLOD was a swear words for us ground crew especially a fret an Open Day. Going to put some FOD bins in and about with some fuel drip bins as well.

Regarding sharp shadows Neil I haven't a clue where to start with that as I'm still a novice maybe you could advice.
