Re: Scavenger Hunt 579 March 9 - March17

Ai, I heard about the parent company, too. I am on facebook but do not do the messenger thing there. I suppose we could make a group on facebook and continue..... We will see what happens. I have a record of all my sketches on Blogger but no one elses. Joan and Ai both do blogs and a few of the others. Robin has one and some of the "old" sketchers that don't post hear any more.

In the meantime, here is my latest in the little travel sketchbook as we went to the doctor today, checking up on Gene for the next surgery. All well so far.
In the little book with a Prismacolor 03.
Number 5 water - water fountain on the wall
Number 6 alcohol - at the Good Times at Dry Creek restaurant on the way home.

Re: Scavenger Hunt 579 March 9 - March17

Jo — You're good at sketching so many different kinds of things! Wonderful sketches, and I'm glad things are going in the right direction for you and yours.

As for Wet Canvas, I don't do Facebook and have no intention of starting.

The thing is, this Scavenger Hunt is an event. And it brings people and ideas to me that I would never have experienced otherwise. The artwork I normally do is nothing like what I create for these events, and so this event is adding to my life in joyful ways that simply doing my own thing could never do.

Also, it's continually teachng me about people. Helping me to try and understand communication. I have a very hard time with that. I don't understand some types of communication very well. And because of my day-to-day experiences, I can badly misinterpret things like single emojis and niche language. One time on this event, I spent three or four hours researching an emoji, trying to figure out how it was meant, and it turned out I was wrong, with terrible consequences.

So I've struggled here. I've made mistakes. I've tried to apologize and learn and make amends and try again. And this experience, this EVENT, and especially you people, can never be replaced.

Re: Scavenger Hunt 579 March 9 - March17

Everyone! — Through a discussion on Wet Canvas's situation in the Cafe here, I discovered this article about Ravelry. It's a great article and Ravelry appears to be a fantastic site.

Here's a link:

https://slate.com/technology/2011/07...-knitters.html

The article isn't that long, but it is filled with insight, down to and including the very last line.

Ai, perhaps you and your husband could create something for artists using Ravelry's attitudes and intent as a role model?

Jo - Thanks. Nice that you could sketch at the doctor's office and then relax with drinks later too.

Paul - Thank you. I've had the inktense pencils for a long time and used them a lot, but for some reason I stopped using them so much. I love the vivid colors you get with them.

Ai - I saw Cathy's post too and followed the link she gave. It doesn't sound good.

Pine Cone - Thank you. I agree with you that this is a special group and we are all connected and supportive of each other in good ways. I found that in a few other forums here too. I think it helps that we all share such a love for art and can understand the hard work and passion that people put into their work. So many of us have been sharing together for so long that everyone here feels sort of like family. It would be a shame if we lost that. Over the years I have made some really good friends through WetCanvas and have met some of them in person, which was a wonderful plus. I guess we will have to see what happens here.

6 - animal - watercolors and ink
7 - magic place...ocean, sky and nature together - watercolors

Joan — Thanks for your comments! Your birds look so happy And I love your landscape/beachscape. What will I do without your beautiful rusted tones and windswept vistas?

Jo: Great sketches and thanks for hosting. I couldn't help but notice your note on the alcohol sketch which was good restaurant bad sketch. well not quite it may have been a good restaurant but it was it wasn't a bad sketch..Your bad would be my yahoooooo.. great job on both. My favorite was the alcohol both subject matter and sketch

Joan: Very beautiful watercolor sketches love beach scenes... your seagulls brought back my memories of the seagulls in Florida. I found the seagulls on the west coast of Florida to be particularly aggressive. If you are eating they will haunt you to the point of actually attacking your food while you eat. I saw two such event, one a guy was eating his sandwich and a gull swooped down an took it right our of his hand. A similar event took place when a guy was walking down the board walk eating an ice cream and and a gull just pulled it pout of his hand... Hopefully no gulls tried to walk off with any of your snacks

Pine Cone: Glad you enjoyed StarTalk...

Disappointed in the new about Wetcanvas. hopefully all will be ok.....

FYI: This is the info. from latest WC news (March 15) http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1463133&s= that F&W is seeking a buyer of WetCanvas ... To be on a caution side, everyone should 1) consider backing-up all images he/she has posted on WC, if needed and 2) consider exchanging email addresses with those you trust.

Pine Cone - Thank you for your sweet words.

Paul - Thanks. I was safe since I didn't have food that the gulls would eat, but maybe they would want my paints and brushes. lol I have had them swoop down and try to steal food from me. Now I usually have salad and they don't seem to want that.

Ai - Thanks for the update.

**If anyone interested wants to message their email address to me here on WetCanvas, I can put them together for everyone to have just in case.**

EP - Thanks. Great that you used art materials and pens for so many of the items.

8 - used for art (frame) - watercolor pencils and ink

EP — Thanks. Fun sketches from your artistic life!

Joan — Beautifully rendered scene! Lovely, serene colors As to your kind and generous offer to all, I wish I could continue to participate with your WC family in that way, but for me, it's a bridge too far. I'm so sorry.

Hi all, great sketches. Thanks for your comments on my work.

Joan, I love your magic place and the birds. Excellent.

Ep, your art supplies make me smile. I always say that, but they do.

Joan, beautiful room, wow! Nice frame.

Doesn't look like I will get another sketch done. See you on the next Hunt. More baseball today.
