I chose the birdbath scene, 7x5 on Moleskine sketchbook for watercolor.

Only had time for the house and the road. Done in gouache paints which are bright colors. Hadn't used those paints in a while.

Lil, Nice painting in gouache. Do you have any tips on painting with it? I bought some but I'm not getting the results that I thought I would get. Yours is very nice. What kind of paper and brushes do you use?
Kay, the colors in your little painting are so clean. Nice little painting.

Re: March Monthly Challenge and Chat, 2019

Floblue, glad you like my little painting in gouache. Gouache is a chalk-like paint and the colors come out nice and bright. It's like watercolors but it can get dull if you go over the colors too much. I use the watercolor brushes and watercolor paper although you can use smoother paper too. I bought the paints at a Michael's store and they're student quality. The better brands cost a little more and probably better. So if you give it a try, let me know how you like them. Doing flowers with them comes out beautiful.

Re: March Monthly Challenge and Chat, 2019

vmrs, thanks so much for your gracious hosting. Wonderful photo selections for our interpretations.

Tuscany, nice start with your charming version of the farm road. I like the choice you made to crop, your take on the subject has a nice English landscape painter look to it to me. Beautifully painted.

SoCalDan, your are developing quite a nice style in these phone paintings. Very nice job.

KreativeK, lovely watercolor of the feeder, nicely drawn and painted.

ArtsyMom, pleasant color and feel to the farm painting, nice delicate clouds.

Re: March Monthly Challenge and Chat, 2019

Here's mine. First time using oil paint in many years. I wanted to experiment with water soluble oils again. I tried them years ago, but didn't like the results. I didn't think I gave them a fair shot. This one turned out better. The size is 6"x4" on canvas board.

Lil and Dorrart - both are great versions of the farm road. My cropped version gave me just a little more leeway for details on the house
