Re: Adobe Illustrator vector portraits (RGD)

Comments: I did this one in Adobe Illustrator with proprietary tools

It's a portrait of a dog from RGD (Redditgetsdrawn) in which people post references and ask us to draw them.

Sometimes I use Illustrator to paint with, other times I use Procreate or Adobe Sketch or Clip Studio Paint, depending on my mood.

setup: Wacom Cintiqu 22HD

my background: Digital artist 20 years (professional) and have illustrated comic books, portraits, and a whole bunch of merchandise (hats, patches, shirts, pins, mugs, stickers, etc. etc. etc.)

Want to see Illustrator processes? Here is a movie of another painting I did in Illustrator with a cartoon style.

My art channel (on youtube)

I'm good at making demos/tutorials now that I upgraded my software.

Moving forward, I would like to get better with watercolor effects and work in still life. I'm playing around with real watercolors, but I'm not very good yet. I think in "digital" language I guess.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Welcome. wow, I would not have guessed that this was done in Illustrator- never would have guessed you could get the gradients and the soft transitions in illustrator.
I'll be moving this over to the Digital showcase, where we put our work.

What an interesting effect you have on this. I sure don't want to meet him in a dark alley!

I need to have a go with this - I thought vector based things would be 'tight' but you got some really free sketchy marks out of it
