Re: Scavenger Hunt #572, Jan 12- Jan 20

I thought I had commented yesterday, sigh.....

Paul, the corner with couch and all is a great watercolor!

Number 9, great hatching, especially the onion and Drymal. Gene loves his.

Joan, the new fountain pens work well for you, love those colors. Nice find on the birds.

Scatty, I thought, great hand. Then I read that you used the non dominant one . Sooooo good. The sweater cuff is good texture???

Robin, your laundry sketch makes me smile. Such an inviting look.

I went out with the plein air group but it is cold so we did a still life at the Art Center. I tried watercolor. I'll learn someday. Nice to get out, then lunch at a new Old Mexico Restaurant, don't remember the name. It was good, I had ceviche.

Number 6, texture - several types

Ai, beautiful gesture on the flowers. We have those here, called Spider Lilies, I think.

Paul, great on the ellipses. There are many on that tea pot. Yay! I drank the wine in the glass, no one wanted it. Really??? I love eating/drinking models.

Supposed to be a beautiful day here after cold the last few days. Then back to winter next week. Brrrr.

Paul, the Art Center is amazing. We started the group in 1997 and have the center today. It has display areas, teaching rooms, studios for rent, and out back silos with a glass blowing area and soon to be welding and ceramics I think. It is a wow for central Texas. Lost Pines Art Center in Bastrop, Texas is what you look up.

Skatty kat Thanks for the kind words about my post. Your off hand drawing is impressive . I don't see how you all do that as well as you do/ Something I have to work on. The dremyl type tool that you mentioned Is one from harbor freight. They are a little larger than the Dremyl brand but a lot cheaper. I have burnt up 2 or 3 of the drymel brand. The switches melt. I use them to do rough in wood carvings And I tend to work them too hard.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #572, Jan 12- Jan 20

I answered and closed the window too soon, so we may get this twice.

Scatty, what a good sketch of your daughters toes! Nice model for sure.

Ai, what a great place to walk and sketch. Good for you. These flower sketches are super.

Paul, you are doing great with your watercolor. I like this boat-scape a lot.

I sketched in the big book with the Pilot fountain pen. Too quickly....

Number 7, lazy corner, where I sketch on the porch
Number 8, from the kitchen, juice squeezer

Ai, thanks...lovely flowers, you are so lucky to have a place so full of loveliness next to your workplace...
Number9, thanks...I often use my non dominant hand when painting, but writing I find more difficult, I think its because your brain has instilled the letter shapes into its filing system, whereas sketching and painting is all new shapes, thats my theory anyway. When we were kids my mumma would encourage us to draw with our toes too, huge fun...
Paul, thanks, super little boat, good work on the bg as well...
Jo, thanks, ooh I wanna come sketch on your porch, looks very comfy. well done on the lemon squeezer too, I've seen them used for pours as well, good job on both...
