Re: Scavenger Hunt # 570 Dec 27 - Jan 4

Joe - clementine looks so good - ready to peel

Here we go, graphite and inktense (dry) on 3x5" moleskin - entirely done with my non-dominant hand (graphite, colour, date, all)

1. green and brown - the bottom of my rubber plant (Ficus elastica)

2. green and yellow - set of fronds on my schefflera (Schefflera arboricola) umbrella plant

Cheers,

Ep - nice drawings. Using non-dominant hand makes them unbelievable. You and Joan draw as well with either hand. The date is neater than my normal writing

Keep sketching
Joe

Hey, EP. Your plants are well done and with the non-dominant hand. I'm impressed.

Joe, excellent on the clementine. Texture even. Nice.

Ai, beautiful orchids. I've never seen "bunches" of orchids before. Usually one at a time. Thanks for the sentiments. Have a great year as well.

I sketched, finally, in the big book with the Micron 01 and some colored pencil. Wanted to sketch in the big book so no watercolor. Maybe next time. The ribbon is fun to do in pastels. When I said I had no flag, I meant no Brazilian flag. We have a few U.S. flags. Heh, heh.

Number 1,2,3, tea, sweetener and red ribbon. The ribbon was tied on the tree.

Jo : These are commercial cutting flower (orchids) ... There are lots of orchids farms in Thailand. These cutting flower types are cheaper orchids than the hi-end single orchid plant pot. I went to the flower wholesale market a few days ago and brought a ton of them home.

Joe - thank you

Ai - such cheerful colours! Thank you for posting a photo of the flower sellers. So beautiful!

Jo - thank you. Good job on the tea and sweetener packets. The red ribbon was on the Xmas tree?

Re: Scavenger Hunt # 570 Dec 27 - Jan 4

graphite, 3x5" moleskin, with some dry inktense - all done with my non-dominant hand (graphite, colouring, everything)

3. egg as ellipsoid
4. peppercorns as other spice sub for cardamom
5. other fruit - pear as sub for dragonfruit
6. i - self portrait - tongue out and close one eye let me tell you that is tough to sketch - I had to look with one open eye; remember, and draw with both eyes open.

Cheers,

EP, show off, doing a self portrait with your non dominant hand! Wow on all your sketches.

You can see some of the ribbons on the tree. After the fire, we bought the tree at a charity event all decorated and it had the strings of beads, silver and red balls, the glass strings and the ribbons to fill in the spaces. We have added more personal ornaments and lose a ribbon or two every year. Ha. It had some glitter covered stems at the top and I quit using them after the first year, it was so messy.

Ai, the orchid market is so beautiful and the flowers, wow. Do they last a while? I used to buy flowers in the market in Bolivia, mostly carnations because they smell good and last a long time. They had many kinds of flowers, but I don't remember orchids. They might have had them and I just didn't look since I wasn't familiar with them. Shame on me. The ladies in the flower part would watch my car while I shopped and then I bought flowers to pay them for taking care of me. :-)

Jo - what a beautiful tree! With bonus green arrows When you said the ribbon was on "the tree" I was mystified until I chanced upon the idea that "the tree"="Xmas tree". Turns out I was right! Phew!

EP, thanks.

I decided to do a pastel sketch for the first sketch of 2019 to see if it might inspire me to paint.

Number 4 lemon or lime - sketch on re-used sanded paper
