Scatty - Nice sketch of your collection. Each time I look at it all I can think is how long to dust them all?

EP,Ai, Dave, thanks...
Joe, I think I had a duster once, but don't worry too much about it now....apparently the dust adds to the patina and enhances the provenance , plus the other good thing about dust is it will always wait for me...
...the shelf, ...doesn't look too dusty from down here...

3 shelf and it’s contents. I had not drawn yet today felt guilty so decided to sketch at physical therapy place. Pulled out iPad and opened a Procreate, but no stylus so... (No idea how jo manages to draw with her finger.)
So this is digi drawn with finger.

To give a clue what it is here is photo.

I hate dusting, usually leave it till some writes in it and ruins the look

Re: Scavenger Hunt #568: December 11 - 19

I like this about dusting:

Dust if you must....... but wouldn't it be better
to paint a picture or write a letter,
bake cookies or a cake or plant a seed,
ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
with rivers to swim and mountains to climb,
music to hear and books to read,
friends to cherish and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
with the sun in your eyes, the wind in your hair,
a flutter of snow, a shower of rain.
This day will not come around, again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go - and go you must -
you, yourself will make more dust!

Dust if You Must was written by Mrs Rose Milligan from Lancaster in Lancashire, England, and first published on September 15th 1998 in the 21st edition of The Lady (“in continuous publication since 1885 and widely respected as England’s longest running weekly magazine for women”).

Re: Scavenger Hunt #568: December 11 - 19

#1 A self-portrait and
#2 Something I wouldn't normally draw because it's too difficult.

Both of these are blind contour drawings using a Rotring Artpen. I hope you like my new glasses!

#3 A jug. This is done with a Paynes Grey Inktense stick, washed with a water brush. I've used Inktense pencils before, but not the sticks. I think this will be better for larger work, but it's always fun to play with something new!

#4 My favourite drawing tool (a mechanical pencil with a 2B lead)

Joe, you've got a good 3D feel to those balls, especially considering they were done with your finger!

Not keen on dusting myself, I must admit. I figure if you can't see it, you don't need to worry about it!

Dave, I bow in awe that you did your sp in blindcontour and twice! An sp is a challenge all by itself...and then add that they are recognizable. Super job.
I like the way the jug has feel of a watercolor sketch. Nice job on pencil too. Thanks for kind words on my digi.

Scatty Thanks for encouraging words. For the record the photo is from the net, did fast search for photo of a dolphin.

4 radio. Did a rather quick sketch using HB mechanical pencil. Took about 15 min in 9x12 inch sketchbook. There are a few distortions but I am happy with the overall look.

Not the best photo either *sighs* but hanging tough with doing at least one sketch a day and continuing to study watercolor.

Keep sketching
Joe

So this is digi drawn with finger.

The secret is when you want a fine line or are in a tight spot, just make the screen area huge. I guess since I started on Gene's iPhone years ago I never thought of it as hard it was the only way. Ha.
I love your self portrait and radio, too. Well done on the exercise balls. The mahi mahi are so interesting and well drawn.

Scatty, love your dusty shelf full of goodies. Great sketching.

Dave, wow on the self portraits. Nice shading on the jug. I still haven't tried Inktense.

Hi to all the rest.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #568: December 11 - 19

#5 something I saw when I was out for a walk (in Wytham Woods). Not sure why I couldn't get this to display correctly. Graphite with inktense burnt sienna.

#6 a shelf and it's contents (that's a mantel shelf and Christmas cards. The third one along is supposed to be a koala -- it came from Australia!). Ink.

#7 an ear. This is a cast of the ear on Michalangelo's David, or at least it's a cast of a cast.

Jo - Thanks for moral support on digits

Dave - love the tree. Well done on the Shelf. Had to laugh at the cast of a cast comment. Nice sketch of it.

Keep sketching
