Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Thanks CaliAnn- this became sienna sunrise as I had completely run out of my blue paint! So I had to come up with something that would make sense - soooo, I had plenty of sienna & titan buff so I figured I would make these 2 colors work!

Thank you for your kind words!

Heading north today - Melissa's niece and husband just built a house near Orlando, so I'm giving them 2 - 18x24 framed ocean/ palm paintings as a house warming gift. They picked them out of my recent ones.

Lucky them! Your paintings will give the house so much life and interest!

Autumn Aspen Stand is so alive. Feels as if it's moving right before my eyes. Beautiful work! I very much like Sienna Sunrise too! You use colors for skies and landscapes that I would never think of. Excellent works!

The way you have painted the aspens really does take me back to the time you were painting a series of them, a few years ago I think! Very nice colours in your sunset painting, I do like the purple and green together. Well done!

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Bottle & Pear - 16x12 - clear gessoed linen canvas panel, drawn and painted with brush, SZ 18 filbert. Many years ago when I was a young lad I painted a lot of still lfe pieces and have not done one for many, many years. i intend on going back into this and adding a lot of brush strokes to change it into a piece of my current loose impressionistic style, with some semiabstract passages.

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

This is sure a different style for you! I like the suggestion of shine on the bottle. It will be fun to see your new take on still life paintings.

How interesting to see a still life painted a la Richard! You took what could have been a ho hum painting and gave it life. I think it's awesome!

Re: Weekly paintings Southwest & Florida

Thanks CaliAnn- appreciated. It brought back a lot of memories of my younger years and still life works - I did find it required more concentration than my loose landscapes!!!!!! :>))

Back to the Southwest!

Distant Desert Formations - 12x16 clear gessoed linen canvas panel, alla prima, Chroma Interactive acrylics applied quickly with palette knife in a loose expressionistic impressionistic style - leaving some canvas untouched by paint to simulate the floor of the desert.
