Wood Burning artworks

Hi here are a couple of my wood burning works.
The garden gate one aged badly even with a sealer. Live and learn.
It is a stylized self portrait of me and my cat Penelope.
The other one is indoors and is doing fine.

Very good.
When I was a kid I had an adjustable ball jointed clamp.
I use to tune the magnifying glass into the sun and move my wood under.

Both very well done! Anybody who like cats is OK with me based on my signature.

Anything exposed to the sun is going to have a hard time of it ... what did you seal it with? I would think something like spar varnish might be a good choice because it is pretty tough and allows the wood to move. Historically it was used on ships spars because it held up so well ... but the sun will destroy just about everything over time. Even ipe decking.

I'm thinking of redoing the garden sign. I'm thinking I might take my dremel to it and carve it in, then do the burning and a better sealer for sure thanks for the help, spar varnish.

Good idea, the dremel should make the design permanent.
