Wow, very impressive Mary love it so far.

Someone on this site, might've been you Mary, told us about this painting exercise. I wrote it down to use for my students but have not yet tried it. Lots and lots of old calendars to play with, too.

Pen:

Black Tombow brush pen on Bristol board w/ water to blend.

Next is one you are trying to sell

Not even framed yet but will likely go in next exhibition. An experiment with cold wax and charcoal powder at a recent workshop - I loved using cold wax so need to do more. Life just caught up with me recently and not being very productive.

Next something where you learnt something new ........

Re: And the next sketch is ......

Hi Kay

Just mix the powdered charcoal with cold wax to achieve the opacity you want and a texture like oil paint. Then paint with palette knives/silicon wedge tool/credit cards/colour shapers etc

this one was painted using the silicone wedge tool above - they are available in the US, I bought mine off the tutor as not available in the UK. It was fantastic to paint with, so expressive and such a variety of marks it can make

it is really flexible on the edges so another 'something new' I learnt about that day

Re: And the next sketch is ......

well, my art teacher reminded me to use masking tape to paint straight lines, instead of a ruler, and then told me to not pull it off when the paint was too wet if I didn't want the paint to bleed/run (as I was doing so).

This one is almost done.

the next sketch is almost done.

Love your plane, Mary! Yes, learned the hard way about those lines

From yesterday's weekend drawing event in AMAE forum, my WIP, 6x9 beginning WIP of cows using Crayon brown marker for a 10 minute sketch on Canson 140 lb cold press paper.

Next is all about skies
