Re: Mr. Chubby Cheeks (WIP)

Update time
I laid in a BG and am fine tuning it. I think it'll be a bit darker. It doesn't look as Brown in real life as it shows up here.
I used a fiber brush, sandpaper, then multiple ink washs dabbed on with a paper towel. Gonna' work on it more....
but the wife said she may hide it. She says it done......
is a piece ever truely done

Can I just say that when I saw your update I quite literally found my self laughing. No lol for kicks and giggles, but a true chuckle. This piece has such charm. I think you should add color, but left alone it also looks great!

Re: Mr. Chubby Cheeks (WIP)

Susan..a chuckle.... a giggle....That's all good to me Thanks!
I couldn't leave it alone though ......
darkened up the BG to more of what I wanted it to be.
I think I'll let it dry and contemplate wether I'll add color or not
as I begin on my next one

Re: Mr. Chubby Cheeks (WIP)

Patrick, that's one of the best compliments ever....Thanks!!
I found it to be alot easier this time around. It might be because of the size of the board. It felt like the ink layer wasn't as thick on this board compaired to the 5X7's I've been doing. Anyone else notice that?

Great dimension on those chubby cheeks! And I love the fur textures.

Tania...Thank You
I'm still not overjoyed with the left cheek.....
But I'm afraid that if I touch it.....the wife will beat me
I haven't clear coated it yet....so maybe I can sneak in a scratch or two on it

Nice work on this one! I love his little toes and chippy expressions. I think you did good to darken the background, because I really like the subtleness of it! I think color or not its a winner! Great work.

Re: Mr. Chubby Cheeks (WIP)

Cathy...Thank You I almost broke out the Airbrush for the BG...but all that stuff is in my garage.....and it's cold......and I'd have to look all over for the equipment.....and I was too lazy I'm still on the fence about adding color....My next two that I have planned are both destined to be "colorfied" so maybe that'll "fix" my creative craving.
Greg...And a big Thank You to you as well

This is so cute! I really like the background...very subtle. Great job on the fur, it looks like if touched it would feel so soft. Well done!

Re: Mr. Chubby Cheeks (WIP)

This turned out very well Allen. You'll find that scratchboard is very forgiving, most of the time. This reminds me of when I was a little kid. I caught one of these cute little guys. Didn't take me long to release him...after he chomped down on my hand. That pretty much ended my career as a chipmunk wrangler.
