Post Project Discussion: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels

A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!

Title: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels
Project Leader: *Deirdre*
Relative Difficulty: Irrelevant
Type Restrictions: Painting
Medium: Pastels
Subject: Not Applicable
Days open for signups: 30
Maximum participants allowed: 16

Description:

A puzzle project for those pastellists who like doing puzzles!! A photo is cut into 16 pieces...each pastellist putting their own style on it...and we'll see how it looks when we've finished! I will send each participant a piece of the jigsaw, which they should then paint in pastels and post to the project.
PLEASE limit your picture size to 6" x 6" - which should help me piece together the puzzle when you've finished it!

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here!

Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get "pushed down" by a swarm of project-related threads.

Re: Project Discussion: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels

I've just sent the pieces to the first three to join us! Well done!
The pieces I've chosen enlarge very well, which will suit most of us who don't have 20/20 vision any longer!

Thank you Deidre, I have my piece. How coincidental; it will help me practice a shape I'm presently having problems with.

Re: Project Discussion: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels

Glad to hear it. Remember, try and make the size you do 6" x6", end date for finishing is 3rd of May.

Come on folk...there's plenty more pieces to do, so get in quick if you want to get a middle piece! They are small and relatively easy to do, good if you're in between pictures and want to keep your hand in!

Re: Project Discussion: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels

Thanks Vivien for the pat on the back. Just to back up Diedre had to say about filling in between other paintings, these puzzle pieces work well for that, as they take a small amount of time and materials. Maybe even have a chance to try a paper that you haven't tried before. This one worked for me, as I had been wanting to try painting colorful thread spools, but didn't have a ref.

John

Beautifully done John....I was a bit worried about giving you the thread reels until my husband reminded me he has used sewing threads many times...I 'd forgotten how he liked to keep those little sewing kits handy in case he needed to sew a button or a tear in his shirt before a meeting when he was away...
Glad too that you needed a reference like that! Tell me what you want with sewing reels and I'll do you a photo...I have hundreds of reels!

Re: Project Discussion: April puzzle no 5 Soft Pastels

Just about anything will work. Believe it or not, I just recently took up quilting and helping the OH make bibs for the local battered women's shelter. Helps fill up the hours and keeps the hands busy during all the cold weather. Now that spring is here I will be spending more time outdoors painting.

John, great job. Glad you got that to paint, wouldn't have done half as good a job.
