Beautifully painted. How long did it take you David? – it’s very realsitic.

            Cheers, Maureen

Thanks. It took about three weeks.

So, here’s the story behind it. My Brother recently died, about a month ago, he was very ill and placed on ‘end of life care’ in a local Hospice. I was going backwards and forwards to the hospice visiting him every day and for the rest of the time I was so stressed out with grief about it all that I needed something, anything, to calm me down.

Painting is my meditation, and the more complicated the painting, the more involved I become in it, the better it works to empty and ease my mind. So basically, this painting is what I did during the last three weeks of my brother’s life in order to be able to keep myself together enough to be there for him at the end.

            Here’s a better photo.

                            Just beautiful… Amazingingly so.

Painting is a complete distraction. I know of nothing which, without exhausting the body, more entirely absorbs the mind. Winston Churchill

Really beautiful, but so sad to learn of the story behind it.
