October 6, 2018 at 5:07 pm #703383I always prefer to do background colour very early to establish a relationship with the main subjec5… but your way seems to be working well…looking Good

Mac, Agreed, it’s better to Block in colors and values before detailing. Originally I didn’t plan to include any environment save the shadows. Not sure where it will go. I may reference some Millet or Jules Breton for the background.
October 15, 2018 at 4:51 am #703387I find backgrounds difficult. The greens you have in the transitions to shadows on the figure help bind the two together.
Nathan.
C&C always appreciated.
My art on InstagramNovember 8, 2018 at 12:41 pm #703395Used iPad to make black&white copy, Printed on black&white printer paper and sketched some ideas.
Please, Opinions, ideas welcome.
November 8, 2018 at 12:55 pm #703390The addition of other figures gives it narrative, which I like. Just be careful with the greens – they can take over.
November 11, 2018 at 3:54 pm #703384I’d check your reference carefully the relationships between the belly button, pubis and hips are off. The stomach faces a slightly different direction than the pubis and hips something is out of place in that area. Also the head looks a little small you could be right it doesn’t hurt to confirm the size relationship.

Thanks for pointing that out. The belly button and tummy are off a little. I put this aside and I’m glad I haven’t started adding more figures or background before making these corrections. Also, when roughing in, I had made the head larger at one point, but now I’m afraid it’s still not quite right and you are right about that as well. That will be difficult to redraw at this point.November 11, 2018 at 8:37 pm #703385Patrick, you can increase the volume of her hair to make the head a little larger you will have to search out a suitable hairstyle other than pony tail for her, that is one way to fool the eye.

As far as adding figures/ composition….I think I’ll leave her alone in her moment. What do you think?November 15, 2018 at 9:56 am #703392You’ve worked hard on this Boogie and its come out really well. Leave her standing alone and move on
