I’ve now arrived back to a cold Blighty after a wonderful week in the sun. I did drop into the forum a couple of times and made a few comments but I’ve just been catching up on all I’ve missed. I took my sketchbook and pencils and managed virtually nothing, prefering to be beaten constantly by my partner at Rummy. I am now ready to fulfil my duties as a WC guide, under the watchful eye of Mac. If you have any ideas as to how we can build the forum and enourage more posters, please let me know. I have found it useful to go back and look at posts from the past, especially at people who used to post and no longer participate. If you know them, why not send them a PM and encourage them back? I know some will have moved on to other forums or may have just stopped drawing but a message could be just the prompt they need to get backin here.
Activity has improved significantly in the last few months but we all benefit from new posters. Art can be a very lonely pursuit and I think we can all learn by sharing.

The Value of this forum to my mind is that figures are hard to get right in art. It may not be of value to those accomplished artists who have nothing more to learn, but it can be very useful for those trying to draw, paint, whatever…Figures! and posting work and commenting on other’s works is part of a learning process and can be very beneficial… even to the very accomplished!
I find in life drawing groups, which tend to be untutored, although friendships are built up, there is not a lot of showing, sharing and discussing the process, and the Figure Forum here fills a unique niche which I think is safe and friendly.

November 1, 2018 at 4:04 am #719168As someone who posts on Facebook regularly (Purely to give exposure to my paintings and encouraging the occasional sale) I find that many times the like button is pressed automatically (I’m guilty of it myself).
Here on this forum you have conversation with other artists and who offer encouragement and ideas to help you improve your art in a friendly and respectful manner. Wetcanvas is a wonderful resource.

November 1, 2018 at 7:35 am #719171Thanks all. So if each of us picks one or two ex-contributors to PM, lets see what happens. If the same person gets more than one PM so much the better

Anything which keeps the forum alive and preferably bustling is a good idea.
One thing I like about this forum is that all posts get recognition of some sort. There is a forum which shall be nameless where moderators carry on long exchanges with their cronies and don’t carry out this basic duty which is vital for attracting new people and keeping things eclectic.C&C always welcome.

C&C always appreciated.

Thanks Nathan, I’ve learned a lot in here over the last two or so years and hope I can give back

Good luck with it anyway.C&C always welcome.
