Petunias-Oil

A small 6x8 of Petunias- I learn a bit more with work on color, brush drawing, edges, application, and interpretation each time- and fun to paint!

Re: Petunias-Oil

Derek- Thank you! I do like painting these- it's a good practice to loosen up, as I'm just starting an oil portrait.

Really good . Dont you think a darker background will make the flowers stand out more ? I am a novice(in oil painting) btw, so take it with a grain of salt.

Re: Petunias-Oil

Thank you Monsur! The white flowers originally had a much sharper edge, and gave them a 'cutout' appearance and much more attention. So, I softened them quite a bit. This seemed to balance the focus more equally to both the white and red.
