Aquatica II
Golden acrylics on canvas, 9" x 12"
The second in a series of aquatic grasses from a mountain lake I like to fish. This one gave me fits. I must have painted over the whole thing at least 5 times before getting it close to what I wanted to convey (luckily it's small).
Such is painting; sometimes the brush knows exactly what to do, other times, not so much.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Aquatica II
Love it Bill. Looks like you got it all worked out. I like the composition and the atmospheric elements. I'd like to see more of these.

Looks fantastic. All the hard work was certainly worth it.

Re: Aquatica II
Beautiful work! It wants to ripple and spill right off the edges of the canvas.

Yes: I know the feeling Bill. Sometimes you go over and over a painting and it still won't work. BUT, on occasion you get a beauty like this. The series is a really good one.

I looked at your amazing painting, thinking how I'd be sweating it out, repainting & covering a mess over & over again, then saw this commentSuch is painting; sometimes the brush knows exactly what to do, other times, not so much.
- exactly right!....darned brushes!

How beautiful! You are more patient than I. And your patience paid off.
I admire works that showcase the beauty of the simple things found in nature. Wonderful piece.

Re: Aquatica II
Well, Bill, your brush certainly knew what to do and so did your hand!! However, many times you had to paint over areas ,you produced a beautiful painting. I keep coming back to have a look. Such a peaceful feel about it.

Re: Aquatica II
Thank you for looking and commenting, Cindy, Simon, Donovon, and Gayle.
Glad you like this Derek. I'll continue with this series after I work on something where I can give in to the will of the brush and abandon such discipline. Perhaps another forest landscape is in order.
Thanks, April, Cassandra, Bhavani, and Chammi. I apprecieate your taking the time to comment.
If painting wasn't so difficult and challenging at times, I suppose it wouldn't be worth doing.

Re: Aquatica II
I have taken a photo like this to paint. I have not painted it yet. This is very serene, peaceful and flows well! Just how I felt when I took my photo. Nice!

Re: Aquatica II
It is just beautiful, and I keep waiting for the fish that I KNOW is hiding down there! I am glad to know I can blame my brushes... It might have been a battle to get here, but it was definitely worth it!!

Re: Aquatica II
Thank you Patrick, Susan, and Gretchen.
Susan, you're probably right about that fish.
I'll add that I was trying to indicate the motion of a soft breeze with the positioning of the blades of grass. Maybe I should include the word "breeze" in the title, or keep it understated?
